Every week, ten winners
Half of everything taken each week goes straight back to players as prizes. The amounts below show a typical week with 500 entries (£500 taken, £250 prize fund). The more people play, the bigger every prize becomes.
- First prize40% of the prize fund£100
- Second prize20% of the prize fund£50
- Third prize15% of the prize fund£37.50
- Fourth prize10% of the prize fund£25
- Fifth prize5% of the prize fund£12.50
- Five runner-up prizes2% of the prize fund each£5 each
Prize values change with the number of entries in each draw and are confirmed in the results. Four times a year our Superdraw adds an extra prize worth 10% of that week's takings.
Why we play: supporting the parish
The Shore Kirk serves Kilmun, Strone and Ardentinny. Our lottery helps us keep doing what a parish church does best: being here for everyone in the community, whether they come to church or not.
- Looking after St Columba's Church, Strone, a listed building that has stood on the shore since 1908
- Keeping our upgraded hall and kitchen warm, open and welcoming for local groups
- Visiting members at home and delivering Christmas cards across the parish
- Running outreach and community initiatives along the shore
Every pound raised by this lottery stays right here on the shore. When you play, you are helping keep the hall heating on, the kettle boiling and a friendly face at the door.
Our winners
Our very first draw takes place on Friday 16 October 2026. From then on we publish every winning lottery number each Saturday, along with the winner's initial and town if they are happy for us to do so.
Frequently asked questions
What is a charity lottery?
A charity lottery, also called a society lottery, is a lottery run by a non-profit organisation to raise money for its work. The Shore Kirk Weekly Lottery is a small society lottery registered with Argyll and Bute Council under the Gambling Act 2005. At least 20% of the money raised must, by law, go to the church's purposes; we commit 40%.
How much does an entry cost?
Each entry costs £1 per weekly draw. You can have 1, 2, 3, 5 or 10 entries. We collect payment monthly for the number of Friday draws in that month, so most months you pay for four draws and some months for five. One entry costs £4 or £5 a month.
How do I change my number of entries?
Email [email protected] or write to the Lottery Office with your name, postcode and lottery number. Reductions take effect from your next payment. Increases take effect after a 7-day cooling-off period, and nobody can hold more than 10 entries a week.
I can't find my lottery number
Your lottery numbers are in the welcome email we sent when you joined (subject line: 'Your Shore Kirk Lottery numbers'). Check your junk folder. If you still cannot find them, email [email protected] with your full name and postcode and we will resend them. For your security we never give lottery numbers out over social media.
Do I need to claim a prize?
No. Prizes are paid automatically into the bank account you pay from, within 10 working days of the draw. We also email you to let you know. If we cannot pay you, we will write to you.
Prefer to give without playing?
A one-off or monthly gift supports the same work in our parish. If you are a UK taxpayer, Gift Aid adds 25p to every £1 you give, at no cost to you.
