How it works

Joining takes about five minutes. Every entry gets its own lottery number and is in every Friday draw for as long as you play.

  1. Select your entries

Choose 1, 2, 3, 5 or 10 entries a week at £1 each. More entries, more chances to win.

  2. Pay

Pay monthly by Direct Debit or debit card through our secure payment provider. No credit cards.

  3. Tell us about you

Give us your name, address and date of birth so we can confirm you are 18 or over and pay your prizes.

  4. Good luck

Your lottery numbers arrive by email. Winners are paid automatically, so you never need to claim.

  4. Fourth prize10% of the prize fund£25
  5. Fifth prize5% of the prize fund£12.50

Where your £1 goes

We publish exactly how lottery money is divided. In a normal weekly draw, every £1 entry is split like this:

  • 50% to prizes. Paid out to winners every single week. Nothing is held back or rolled over.
  • 40% to good causes. The work of the Shore Kirk in Kilmun, Strone and Ardentinny: the church and hall, community groups, pastoral visiting and local outreach.
  • 10% to running costs. Payment processing, Direct Debit fees, postage, registration fees and printing. Volunteers run the lottery and are never paid from it.

More about where your money goes

We would love our first winners to tell their story here. Until then, thank you to everyone who plays. Every entry helps keep our church and hall open for the whole shore.

Lottery questions

What is a charity lottery?

A charity lottery, also called a society lottery, is a lottery run by a non-profit organisation to raise money for its work. The Shore Kirk Weekly Lottery is a small society lottery registered with Argyll and Bute Council under the Gambling Act 2005. At least 20% of the money raised must, by law, go to the church's purposes; we commit 40%.

How much does an entry cost?

Each entry costs £1 per weekly draw. You can have 1, 2, 3, 5 or 10 entries. We collect payment monthly for the number of Friday draws in that month, so most months you pay for four draws and some months for five. One entry costs £4 or £5 a month.

Do I need to claim a prize?

No. Prizes are paid automatically into the bank account you pay from, within 10 working days of the draw. We also email you to let you know. If we cannot pay you, we will write to you.

How do I cancel?

You can cancel at any time by emailing [email protected], writing to the Lottery Office or telling us in person. You can also cancel a Direct Debit with your bank. Any draws you have paid for but which have not yet taken place are refunded in full.

How do I self-exclude or take a break?

You can take a break for 1 week, 1 month or 3 months, or self-exclude for 6 months, 1 year, 2 years or 5 years. During that time we stop your entries and payments and will not let you rejoin. See self-exclusion for the full details.
